Special places

Here some rather uncommon locations. Only the nice ones make it in this list. Places that are unique and won’t easily fit in one of the other categories.

The best looking freebie place in SL Freebie Galaxy

Not only one of the most beautifull places in Second Life but also filled with thousands of freebies.

They have everything you possible could need. The items are nicely organized, you easily find what you are looking for. You get your clothes and things as a folder and not in some unhandy box. Freebie Galaxy is large, you can be shopping here for hours. (Did I say shopping, well, shopping without your wallet)

Also if you don’t need freebies, come have a look at the amazing surroundings. It is a galaxy themed space station or so..planets pass by, falling stars, a borg vessel.. Just go have a look, it is worth it, I promise.

The Rock

The Rock is a unique place. A mountain, where people come to meet and hang out, surrounded by an ancient monestary.

Plenty of spots to dance, cuddle, relax, chat and explore. Besides that the place is just beautifull.

The monestary is not in use as a monestary anymore although some corners are still reserved for a group called “the sisterhood of the rock”, the rest of the place is an enourmous freebie store.

..and a stylefull one, not just another load of freebies put just somewhere.

The rock is a great place meet people. Go have a look!

Second Life's Rock
A very good looking place Inspire Space Park

This place you really just MUST go see.
Set your environment settings to midnight (choose world in the menubar, choose Environment settings and then choose midnight)

You can meditate in a cosmic orbit, do tai chi, dance some or just get inspired by the beautifull surroundings.

Planetarium Dome

This place is fun !!!!!!!!!

Ignore the 20 lines of bla bla bla they throw on you when you enter. The only thing important “set your environment setting to midnight”.

Enjoy the view in the planetarium will doing ur IM’s or so. Or come here with friends. It ain’t too crowded here. Actually the traffic count is embarrising low for such a well done place.

After you are done watching beauty there are also some toys to play with. Upstairs there is a rocket… you can ride it.

You can do yoga and also give dancing under the stars a whole new meaning.

The SL Planetarium Dome
Africa in SL Africa

Africa is fun. You can make a baloon trip, dance, explore the nature and the rugged beaches.

Many come here to have a good time with a partner. The baloon trips are surely worth trying out. The African nature, also not bad. After that perhaps some slowdancing at the beach.

A beautifull well-maintained sim for you to enjoy.

Bedrock – Flintstones Town

Bedrock, the town where Fred and Wilma Flinstone live. Nicely done, all hotspots are availabe, and you can play bowling, watch a movie.

For the naughty ones amongst you…yes you can make love in Fed Flinstone’s bedroom. Just find it…. or be gratefull to SLI Chun (tips are welcome) that she tells you it is at the coordinates 194,28,252. The neighbouring house has simular services.

Another nice thing is the tour.. sit in the green ufo and enjoy the ride (oh.. it crashes twice during the ride, touch the damned ufo to get it on track again)

The Flinstones
SL Adoption agancy MAW Adoption Agency

An adoption agancy. Parents can meet children here, children meet parents and build a family.

Child avatars are allowed in Second Life as long as it is a grown up playing the child and the avatar stays away from anything that smells like sex, violence and drugs.

Kids in SL? Is that a good idea? To say it in their words: These individuals have come to Second Life to roleplay a child, to possibly have the family life they never had in real life or to re-experience the childhood they have long outgrown.

A surprising large number of people finds it great fun to form a family and play a family life, far away from all the sex, violence and nudity that keeps the residents so busy.

Hollywood Airport

Flying in SL is fun.. at moments when lag permits, I have an airplane from a freebee shop, and love to fly around a bit..,, when you are not home see how low I can go over your roof without hitting it (doesn’t go always well.

One needs a good location to fly around. The mainland is a good choice as one 256 x 256 sim is a bit limited at airplane speeds. The mainland is better as one has large grounds to fly over. But.. many banlines and stuff.

The good airports as e.g. this one are located on places where you can have hours of flying fun over enourmous lands without much being borthered with borders and ban lines.

It is fun, pick up an airplane somewhere and try.it out.

Hollywood Airport
The avatar dump jard Bay City Municipal Airport

This place recently seemed to be cleaned up. I miss the old avatar dump it once was. “If you want a second life? Try to get out here first….It won’t be easy”.

Now it is just a place where new residents get dumped, with not much else for them than a group of exploiters (vampires, spammers) waiting for them.

Doomed Ship

A horror themed role-play space ship.

Many people have told me this a great place to explore when you are patient enough to find your way around. I am not a very patient person. The little I have seen of the place makes me believe that indeed it is a great place, you’ll have to find out yourself though.

Great Wall of China

The name says it all… The Great Wall of China. Walk over it, explore it. The build is very nicely done.

Have a look, it is beautifull.

IslamOnline dot net

The island of IslamOnline.net. It has a big mosque (looks like the one in Mecca) where you can do your prayers by clicking a box, the Palestine Holocaust Memorial Museum, fashion shows (I was hoping to find a burqua dress but no shops here).

They give courses and lectures about various subjects related to Islam, the prophet and so. You can also pick up some information, not exactly for beginners.

I still doubt if avatars also have to prey 3 times a day with their face towards virtual Mecca..but who thinks they should : it is possible here.

This place seems to be more for our Islamitic fellow avatars deepening their believe then for non-muslims who like to know a bit more about it. (Yeah traffic count is very low)

big mosque
Vietnam vet memorial wall The Wall

In Washington D.C. is standing a memorial monument, in memory of the vietnam war. A big wall with more than 50.000 names of those who got killed in that war (only the Americans, otherwise it would be a lot longer).

Someone with not much better to do rebuilt that wall in Second Life. It is standing there all alone at furthermore empty island.

It might be impressive to see this thing in real. It might be a good place to remember to make love, not war. But what reason you could have to visit this place in SL? I have no idea.
