You can do a lot in SecondLife. Go beyond the basics and learn all. These places listed here can be of great help.

Freebies “The Rock”
By far the biggest and by far the best place to collect yourself freebies. I love this place. If you look for freebies, go have a look here and you can easily forget about the other freebie places. Everything is here, in a well-designed building, the items are arranged on a superb way. Just everything is good here. You will find yourself outfits, hair, toys, tools, anything. For new residents a visit to this place really is a must, older residents will alsol find a lot of their likings here, to expand their inventory. |
| Virtual Ability
Virtual Ability is a place that helps disabled ppl or ppl with a chronical ilness to get started in virtual worlds as e.g. Second Life. Also when you are perfectly healthy it is a great place to go and learn all the basics of SL. It is very well done, you take a tour and at the end you know to control your avatare a whole lot better. At the end even some freebees to leave the place looking good. Go here when you are new to SL and overwhelmed/confused of all the controls and so. It is the best learning center I’ve seen. |

The Faery Crossing.- Portal
The faery – yes they exist – have built by far the nicest orientation center. It gives the same information as Virtual Abilty, perhaps a bit more limited, put in a fully different form. Why not learn yourself the basics of SL in a cozy faery village? Residents who created their account more than 40 days ago get automatically thrown out of this place. So in that case, you cannot go here. |
| Orientation Island
An orientation center, simular to the others. This one is made by Linden Labs themselves, back in 2003 and not really updated since. Too be honest, I got lost here. Perhaps the same would happen to you, so I recommend the others… though I do get lost rather easily, not sure the same would happen to you. |

Help People Island
Help people is a volunteer organization devoted to helping other residents, particularly newcomers. Here you find information about how to use Second Life, some freebees and a friendly atmosphere where you are more than welcome to ask questions. They also give classes, there are freebees. The basics of SL are better explained at Virtual Ability but a visit to Help People Island can be very educative. The volunteers here are doing a great job in helping others out. Don’t hesitate to go here and ask questions. |
| New Citizens Incorporated
When you are new to SL, you can go here and pick up some information, get tips and tricks, or have a “People helper” help you. They also give classes. Also for those who are in SL a bit longer and want to learn something new, building, scripting and so.. there is help and info for you. Oh and they have freebees, a good but not impressive collection of freebies. It surprised me a bit to find all that stuff here, while finding hardly any clothing or hair. But I took it gratefully in my inventory. |

Texture Tutorials
When you are building things or making clothes, you need to work with textures. That is not complicated, drop a texture on an object… and there you go. But there is more, much more. The texture tutorial learns you all about it. Very informative..your clothes and your builds might look a lot better after you start using what you learned here. |
| Ivory Tower Library of Primitives
Building build and furniture … the basics are easy, as are most of the advanced tricks and freatures, once you get to understand them. Here you can learn all about it. Staircases that don’t consume a whole load of prims but still look good, non rectular forms, linking it all together on a smart way, and so on and so on. Go here and learn. It is worth it. |

Linden Script Tutorial
Scripting is making objects do things with a little computer program named a script. From simply opening a door to far more complex things. Well, drop the right script in a door and it will open. That’s what I know about it. The more advanced scripting things, that is more for programmers and so. If you want to build nice things in SL understanding some of the basics of scripting ain’t a bad idea. This place is a good place to start learning all aboutit. |
| Animation Information Center
What are animations and how to use them? You’ll find the answers here. Also handy in case you wonder how to build an AO or add poseballs to your furniture. There is not too much to say about animations so you’ll be finished here quickly. If you want pick up the boxes with free animations on your way out. |
